In plain English
What this trial is testing
This study is testing Hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) (a device) and 100% Oxygen (a drug) as a possible treatment. Condition(s) listed: Post-COVID-19 Condition, Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn Disease.
It is open-label: participants know what they are receiving.
Phase 4 studies look at treatments that are already approved, to learn more about how they work in everyday use.
Who can join
- Age range not stated in the record
- Any sex
Some of the main requirements, copied from the record:
- Patients referred for HBOT with an emerging indication
There are also 2 reasons someone might not be able to join (exclusion criteria). Only the trial team can confirm whether you qualify.
What's involved
- About 100 participants are expected to take part.
- Start date: 2026-11 (planned).
- Main results expected around 2035-12 (estimate from the record).
- No study sites are listed yet. Check the official record for contact details.
Main thing being measured
- Quality of Life EuroQOL EQ-5D-5L Questionnaire (Within one week of starting HBO2 and within one week of ending HBO2 treatment)
In the researchers’ words
This study will evaluate the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on treating emerging indications (i.e., conditions that have shown to potentially benefit from HBOT) using the Multicenter Registry for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. The study team aims to collect ongoing data on how well HBOT treats these emerging indications, and to add these data to the growing HBO Registry.
This is a short automatic summary built from the official record. A fuller plain-English card is coming; until then, please read the official record.
Questions to ask your doctor and the trial team
- Am I likely to qualify, given my health history?
- What would I have to do, and how often would I need to visit?
- Could I get a placebo? What happens to my current treatment?
- What are the possible risks and benefits?
- Are travel or other costs covered?
- What happens after the trial ends?

Interventions
- Hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) (Device)
Hyperbaric oxygen refers to oxygen given at pressures higher than atmospheric pressure (higher than 1.4 ATA) in pressurized chamber. - 100% Oxygen (Drug)
Receiving 100% oxygen as part of HBOT
Full eligibility criteria (from the record)
Inclusion Criteria: * Patients referred for HBOT with an emerging indication Exclusion Criteria: * Contraindication to hyperbaric oxygen treatment (untreated seizures, pneumothorax, significant pulmonary airspace pathology that might lead to pulmonary barotrauma, unmanageable confinement anxiety, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with CO2 retention) * Pregnant persons
