In plain English
What this trial is testing
Condition(s) listed: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis). This is an observational study: researchers collect information (for example questionnaires, samples, or scans) but the study does not assign a treatment.
Who can join
- Ages 18 and older
- Any sex
- Healthy volunteers accepted
Some of the main requirements, copied from the record:

- Control group: Individuals without inflammatory bowel disease and without significant gastrointestinal symptoms.
There are also 7 reasons someone might not be able to join (exclusion criteria). Only the trial team can confirm whether you qualify.
What's involved
- About 200 participants are expected to take part.
- Start date: 2024-02-15.
- Main results expected around 2026-01-19 (estimate from the record).
- 1 study site listed (1 marked recruiting) in Taiwan.
Main thing being measured
- Tongue-coating metabolomic profiles in patients with inflammatory bowel disease compared with healthy controls (At enrollment (single visit; cross-sectional assessment))
In the researchers’ words
This study will be conducted at the outpatient clinic of China Medical University hospital. It is expected to enroll two groups of 30 subjects, including the experimental group must meet the clinical diagnosis of IBD, and the control group without IBD and have no obvious gastrointestinal symptoms .
