What this trial is testing
This study is testing Disease Subtype-Based Active Video Education (a behavioral program) and standard bowel preparation education (a behavioral program) as supportive care (to help with symptoms or quality of life). Condition(s) listed: Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
Participants are assigned to groups by chance (randomized).
It is single-blind: participants do not know which group they are in.
This study does not use drug-development phases (it may test a device, diet, procedure, app, or care approach).
Who can join
- Ages 18 to 75
- Any sex
Some of the main requirements, copied from the record:
- Age between 18 and 75 years, inclusive.
- Confirmed diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis (UC) or Crohn's disease (CD) according to standard clinical guidelines.
- Scheduled for elective colonoscopy for IBD monitoring or disease activity assessment.
Plus 2 more requirement(s). There are also 7 reasons someone might not be able to join (exclusion criteria). Only the trial team can confirm whether you qualify.
What's involved
- About 600 participants are expected to take part.
- Start date: 2026-06-01.
- Main results expected around 2026-10-01 (estimate from the record).
- 12 study sites listed (12 marked recruiting) in China.
Main thing being measured
- Bowel Preparation Quality (Boston Bowel Preparation Scale, BBPS) (Periprocedural (during colonoscopy))
In the researchers’ words
This multi-center, prospective, randomized controlled trial evaluates whether disease subtype-based active video education improves bowel preparation quality in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) undergoing colonoscopy. A total of 600 IBD patients from 13 centers will be randomized 1:1 to standard education plus subtype-specific video education (intervention group) or standard education alone (control…

Questions to ask your doctor and the trial team
- Am I likely to qualify, given my health history?
- What would I have to do, and how often would I need to visit?
- Could I get a placebo? What happens to my current treatment?
- What are the possible risks and benefits?
- Are travel or other costs covered?
- What happens after the trial ends?

Interventions
- Disease Subtype-Based Active Video Education (Behavioral)
A structured, subtype-specific educational video program tailored for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The videos are customized based on IBD subtype (ulcerative colitis/Crohn's disease), disease activity (active/remission), and Crohn's disease behavior (stricturing/fistulizing). It covers key topics including dietary restrictions, laxative intake instructions, symptom management, a… - standard bowel preparation education (Behavioral)
