What this trial is testing
Condition(s) listed: Crohn Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Colitis Ulcerative. This is an observational study: researchers collect information (for example questionnaires, samples, or scans) but the study does not assign a treatment.
Who can join
- Ages 18 and older
- Any sex
Some of the main requirements, copied from the record:
- Adult patients (≥18 years of age) who required secondary (hospital) care after January 2018 with a confirmed diagnosis of CD or UC, defined by at least one ICD-10 diagnosis code for CD or UC (K50, K51, K52).
- Index date confirmation: the index date is defined as the first date of confirmed CD or UC diagnosis, requiring at least one healthcare encounter for CD or UC AND at least one prescription or dispensing record for any CD or UC-related…
There are also 1 reasons someone might not be able to join (exclusion criteria). Only the trial team can confirm whether you qualify.
What's involved
- About 3500 participants are expected to take part.
- Start date: 2026-08-01 (planned).
- Main results expected around 2027-03-31 (estimate from the record).
- No study sites are listed yet. Check the official record for contact details.
Main thing being measured
- Treatment sequences and duration of conventional and advanced systemic therapies in CD and UC patients (April 2018 - July 2026)
In the researchers’ words
This multicenter retrospective real-world data study will evaluate the treatment pathways and disease burden of adult patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) treated in 5-10 Dutch hospitals between 2018 and 2026. The study will assess: * Treatment sequences, switching patterns, and treatment duration * Prevalence and incidence of extra-intestinal manifestations (EIMs) * Healthcare resource…

Questions to ask your doctor and the trial team
- Am I likely to qualify, given my health history?
- What would I have to do, and how often would I need to visit?
- Could I get a placebo? What happens to my current treatment?
- What are the possible risks and benefits?
- Are travel or other costs covered?
- What happens after the trial ends?

Interventions
- Routine hospital care data (observational) (Other)
This is a non-interventional, retrospective observational study. No intervention is administered as part of this study. The study observes and analyses routinely collected hospital data on existing treatment patterns for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, including conventional therapies and advanced systemic treatments (biologics, JAK inhibitors, S1P modulators), as prescribed in routine cli…
Full eligibility criteria (from the record)
Inclusion Criteria: * Adult patients (≥18 years of age) who required secondary (hospital) care after January 2018 with a confirmed diagnosis of CD or UC, defined by at least one ICD-10 diagnosis code for CD or UC (K50, K51, K52). Index date confirmation: the index date is defined as the first date of confirmed CD or UC diagnosis, requiring at least one healthcare encounter for CD or UC AND at least one prescription or dispensing record for any CD or UC-related medication within the observational period. Exclusion Criteria: * Patients who have formally objected to the use of their hospital data for scientific research purposes. Objections are recorded by the treating hospital in the DBC administrative system and automatically transferred to the research dataset, ensuring automatic exclusion from all analyses.
