What this trial is testing
This study is testing Mediterranean Diet (a behavioral program), Mediterranean Diet + Time-Restricted Feeding (a behavioral program) and Standard Dietary Advice (a behavioral program) as a possible treatment. Condition(s) listed: Ulcerative Colitis (Disorder) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Participants are assigned to groups by chance (randomized).
It is open-label: participants know what they are receiving.
This study does not use drug-development phases (it may test a device, diet, procedure, app, or care approach).
Who can join
- Ages 18 to 60
- Any sex
Some of the main requirements, copied from the record:

Plus 2 more requirement(s). There are also 8 reasons someone might not be able to join (exclusion criteria). Only the trial team can confirm whether you qualify.
What's involved
- About 45 participants are expected to take part.
- Start date: 2026-04-10.
- Main results expected around 2027-04-10 (estimate from the record).

In the researchers’ words
This study will evaluate whether a 12-week dietary intervention can improve gut health, inflammation, and quality of life in adults with ulcerative colitis in remission. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: a Mediterranean diet, a Mediterranean diet combined with time-restricted feeding (eating within an 8-hour window each day), or standard dietary advice.
This is a short automatic summary built from the official record. A fuller plain-English card is coming; until then, please read the official record.
Questions to ask your doctor and the trial team
- Am I likely to qualify, given my health history?
- What would I have to do, and how often would I need to visit?
- Could I get a placebo? What happens to my current treatment?
- What are the possible risks and benefits?
- Are travel or other costs covered?
- What happens after the trial ends?

Interventions
- Mediterranean Diet (Behavioral)
Participants will receive individualized nutritional counseling to follow a Mediterranean diet, emphasizing high intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, olive oil, and fish, and reduced consumption of red meat and ultra-processed foods. Dietary plans will be tailored to individual energy requirements. - Mediterranean Diet + Time-Restricted Feeding (Behavioral)
Participants will follow a time-restricted feeding protocol (16:8), consisting of a daily 16-hour fasting period and an 8-hour eating window (12:00-20:00). During the eating window, participants will consume meals based on Mediterranean diet guidelines, with individualized dietary counseling to ensure adequate nutritional intake. - Standard Dietary Advice (Behavioral)
Participants will receive standard dietary counseling based on current clinical guidelines for ulcerative colitis. This includes general recommendations for a balanced diet without specific emphasis on Mediterranean dietary patterns or time-restricted feeding.
